Get the inside scoop on what made the Fort Worth Report successful and what it means for the future of news.

Two years ago, the founders of the nonprofit Fort Worth Report made a big bet: That the community not only needed more local news coverage, but that it would support it.

Today, with more than a dozen Fort Worth Report journalists covering everything from school boards to city hall to the museum district, that bet has paid off.

Come hear how the Fort Worth Report built both a successful business model and an impactful reporting team, and what that could mean for the future of local news coverage in Fort Worth, and across the state and nation.

Join us on June 7. Space is limited, so sign up today!

Our featured speakers from the Fort Worth Report are:

Thomas Martinez, Managing Editor

Committed to strong community journalism, Thomas R. Martinez brings more than 25 years of experience as a writer and editor, mainly in Texas and Colorado. He believes strongly in five core principles of journalism: truth and accuracy; independence; fairness and impartiality; humanity; and accountability.

Robert Francis, Business Editor

Robert Francis is a Fort Worth native and journalist who has extensive experience covering business and technology locally, nationally and internationally. He is also a former president of the local Society of Professional Journalists. A graduate of Texas Christian University, Robert also took graduate level courses in media at the University of Maryland. During his career he has received several awards from organizations such as the Texas Press Association and the Dallas Press Club. Active in the community, Robert has been involved with several theater groups in the area.

Trish Rodriguez Terrell, Chief Development Officer

Trish Rodriguez Terrell has come full circle in her career: She started her career as a journalist, spent a dozen years in marketing and fundraising, and now draws on all these experiences as Fort Worth Report’s chief development officer. After graduating from the University of Missouri’s journalism school, Terrell was a reporter for newspapers in Missouri, Cincinnati and Dallas before joining the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, eventually becoming features editor. She then raised millions for nonprofit clients. She has also owned a restaurant in Cozumel and lived in the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas, and can make both a mean margarita and a decent chicken souse.
