About this Event

Is Technology Changing the Role of the Artist?

Art and technology have a meaningful history of working together and influencing one another. In many ways, they have evolved alongside each other to arrive at their place in the world today: a digital age where they overlap and express new ideas.

Join CMATO for a virtual discussion with Luke Matjas, Chair of Art and Performing Arts at California State University Channel Islands, and artist, Devin Sullivan, as we explore how technology is impacting what it means to be an artist in the 21st century, the relationship between artists and technology and whether technology is changing the role of the artist.

Matjas is one of four jurors of CMATO's international juried exhibition, Defining Beauty, which features digital works by Sullivan and other artists.

Admission is free for CMATO members and a $6 donation for non-members. Contributions help support the Museum's free art programs.
