Event Details

In April a group of 18 prominent environmental scientists and scholars kicked off a global debate over the future of nature protection and human development with An Ecomodernist Manifesto. The Manifesto was featured prominently in the New York Times, The Chronicle of Higher Education, USA Today, and dozens of other media outlets, and has since been translated by ecomodernist volunteers into Spanish, French, Dutch, and Italian. The big idea? That we save nature by concentrating and intensifying human activities. Cities, agricultural modernization, and nuclear energy, far from being environmental catastrophes, are keys to reducing humankind's environmental impact. Come join us at the Interval on Tuesday, August 4th from 6:30-8:30pm, for an evening discussion on ecomodernism with Stewart Brand of the Long Now Foundation and Michael Shellenberger of Breakthrough Institute, who will be interviewed by journalist Katie Fehrenbacher.

Tuesday, August 4; Doors open 6:30pm, Appetizers and drinks 6:30-7:15pm, Formal Presentation 7:15-8:15pm. The Interval is open after the talk, so you can stay and keep the conversation going.
