Join us for this month’s dinner and conversation as IRON host CEO of Foote Communications, Neil Foote and Principal of Cabral Consulting, Amber Cabral. Both will provide attendees with an opportunity to explore navigating race in today’s workforce and managing your personal identity in the process.

Neil Foote is a veteran media executive who is a principal lecturer at UNT’s Mayborn School of Journalism and co-director of the Mayborn Literary Nonfiction Conference, the nation’s leading conference for aspiring and experienced writers. He also is president of the National Black Public Relations Society, Inc. He has a vast career in media, establishing himself as a nationally known journalist, diversity, digital media strategist, public relations professional, author and educator. He is founder and CEO of Foote Communications, a Dallas-based public relations, marketing, and communications firm. At the Mayborn School, Foote teaches classes in digital and social media for journalists, multimedia storytelling, business journalism, and media management. He also is a contributor to the textbook, Race, Gender, Class, and Media: Studying Mass Communication and Multiculturalism (Kendal Hunt Publisher, 2011). Foote has worked at The Miami Herald, The Washington Post, The Dallas Morning News, the Belo Corporation, the Tom Joyner Morning Show and ASNE. In the community, Foote is chairman of the National Kidney Foundation Serving North Texas, a board member of Presbyterian and Community Services, the UNT Alumni Association and a past board member of the National Association of Black Journalists.

Amber Cabral is a business consultant focused on helping organizations, educational institutions and non-profits create and execute strategies to achieve sustainable leadership and inclusion objectives. She is the founder and Principal Consultant at Cabral Consulting, LLC. Formerly a diversity strategist at Walmart Stores, Inc., Amber has extensive experience developing and executing strategies to embed culture, diversity and inclusion into the employee experience. In her consulting practice, she has helped Fortune 500 cnclusion needs. Her background also includes work in customer service, healthcare and marketing. Amber has a Masters in Organizational Leadership from Siena Heights University in Adrian, Michigan and a Bachelors degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Wayne State University from her hometown; Detroit, Michigan. Passionate about nurturing the next generation of decision makers, she serves on the board for multiple non-profit organizations committed to promoting diverse representation in the arts, in corporate and in communities as well as empowering women and girls, globally. In her free time, she writes articles focused on race, culture and working class life.

The IRON Jeffersonian Dinner Series is a component in the IRON Professional Development Program. The dinner series are structured intimate dinners that provide millennials with an opportunity to connect with senior executives in the North Texas area. The group participates in a soft skills workshop presented by a senior HR leadership professional and participates in a facilitated discussion surrounding a pre-determined prospectus that is shared with all attendees prior to attending.
