Tuesday 10/20

Welcome "Reception" and General Session -10am

Come celebrate 60 Years of IRMA and reconnect with your fellow IRMA Members and Sponsors for the Opening "Reception" of IRMACon2020. Shawn Dalton, Saltscapes, kicks off our morning with the President’s welcome. Andrea Lin, Publisher Texas Highways, and your conference planning Chair will let us know what to expect over the next couple of days. We will also hear from our newest members.

PS - we kick off IRMACON with our first (and perhaps only!?) coffee cup contest!! Bring your favorite coffee cup for a chance to win the honor of Best in IRMACON Show Coffee Cup and a $10 Starbucks gift card!

Advertising: Advertising Sales in Times of Covid: Roundtable discussion of ad revenue generation tactics in the time of Covid. What are you continuing to sell? Have you come up with any unique ideas to sell in response to your client's needs?

Partnerships: Down East & Outside Partnership: Brian Kevin shares the idea and process for successfully executing their partnership with Outside Magazine, and what the results were.

Social Media: Practical, tactical tips and considerations. How to build an audience on social media, what you can use your social media channels for, how social media can inform your content.

Marketing: Publishing and Marketing During a Pandemic: How has the pandemic changed the marketing strategy and brand direction within your publication? What new audience development efforts have you put into place during this time? What has been successful, what hasn't? Have you seen a surge in subscriptions - if so, how do you plan to keep those subscribers come renewal time?

Creative: Focus on Fonts: Mark Mahorsky, Creative Director, Texas Highways, along with other IRMA Creatives, will present tips on font usage. How do you use special fonts? How many can you mix in? What about fonts on covers? How much do you pay for fonts? Free vs. paid and licensing.

The State of USPS: What is happening? What are some potential risks to the USPS right now? What can publishers potentially expect, and what can we be doing to mitigate any potential instability in the postal system?
