Sorrento SLSC is excited to announce that expressions of interest are now open for the Winter 2025 Silver Medallion IRB Driver Course.
This course is a fantastic opportunity to build on your lifesaving skills, become more involved in patrol operations, and support water safety at events – both at Sorrento and across Australia. Whether you're a dedicated lifesaver or a parent wanting to support your kids from the water, becoming an IRB Driver is a great way to be part of the action. Qualified trainers will guide you throughout your training journey.
Course Schedule:
- Theory Session: Tuesday 1st July 2025, 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
- First Wet Session: Saturday 5th or Sunday 6th July (confirmed at theory session)
- Ongoing Sessions: Weekly (approx. 8 weeks, depending on participant numbers)

Please include the following:
- Full name
- Contact mobile number and email address
- Preferred training day (Saturday or Sunday)
- Do you currently hold an RST?
- Do you meet all the criteria listed below?
Course Requirements – You Must:
- Be at least 16 years old at the start of training
- Hold and be currently proficient in both Bronze Medallion and IRB Crew Certificate
- Hold a Recreational Skippers Ticket (RST) before starting the course
- Be 17 years old at the time of assessment
- Submit an entry requirements confirmation form with a minimum of 8 hours as a qualified IRB crewperson
- Complete the online SLS Powercraft module via the Members Portal (elearning > Training Library > SLS Powercraft)

- Dry Session: 10th June
- Wet Sessions: 1–2 practical sessions (dates to be confirmed)
- Assessment: Includes a theory paper completed the week before the wet session
