Earn 37 1/2 Professional Development Hours, or 2 Grad Credits and 7 1/2 PDH Learn from Dr. David Malone of ISU and Petroleum Professionals.

About this Event

Take home grade specific lesson plans & a lab/classroom activity kit worth hundreds of dollars -see copy of lab/classroom activity kit lists at iprb.org/Education.

(Must register before April 30, 2019 to be eligible for ISU class enrollment for earning the 2 grad credits.)

Lodging, meals, grad credit costs, curriculum and lab/classroom activity kit all included at no cost to you.

• Monday through Thursday noon.

• Includes free lodging and meals. IPRB invites you to arrive on June 23, 2019, Sunday evening for a Meet and Greet at 6pm. IPRB will pay for your room and hors d”oeuvres will be served.

• IL State Board of Education approves Graduate Credits & Professional Development Hours throughout the state.

• Limited to a onetime attendance

• Must be teaching math or science in a grade 3-12

• Free take home hands-on curriculum which includes grade specific lesson plans and a free lab/class-room activity kit worth hundreds of dollars.

• Learn from Dr. David Malone of ISU and Petroleum Professionals that work in the Illinois Basin

Sunday Evening, June 23 , 6:00pm - Meet and Greet

Monday, June 24 - Teachers will participate in math and science professional development workshops covering middle school petro science, high school/middle school core energy math, high school core energy science, and elementary petro science (with a common core math component).

Tuesday, June 25 - Teachers will participate in numerous learning stations and presentations covering the Illinois oil and natural gas industry in general, petroleum geology, prospecting, legal aspects of the industry, drilling and producing in Illinois, hydraulic fracturing, geological logging, industry regulation, rock cutting evaluation, well stimulation, seismic activity, permeability and emergency spill response.

Wednesday, June 26 -Teachers will travel by charter bus to tour various oil and gas facilities.

Thursday, June 27 - Guest speakers will discuss a variety of topics, including: careers in geology, geologist ideas for the classroom and Illinois oil well record keeping. Teachers will use knowledge gained throughout the week to participate in fun learning activities. The Summer Program will dismiss around 1pm.
