Workshop Title: iPad Apps for Productivity, Research, and Teaching
Speaker: Kevin Caliendo, English Professor
Ever since the iPad was first released in 2010 tech journalists, software developers, and educators have theorized and debated the impact that tablets would have on education in the "post-PC" era. Today, many students and faculty use iPads, Android, and Windows tablets to take notes, write papers, and participate in classes online. In the app store, there are over 65,000 apps classified under the heading education, so finding the right app for a given task can be daunting. This session offers and overview and tutorial of a selection of iPad Apps that faculty can use to create course content and streamline grading and course management.
Categories and examples of apps we will cover in the session:
- Office productivity (Pages, Keynote, Numbers, Notability, Evernote)
- Multimedia (iTunes U, TED, YouTube, iBooks Author)
- Collaboration (Adobe Ideas, Facetime, Skype)
- Grading (Turnitin, discussion of LMS compatibility)
- And more!
We will have a Check-In sheet using the registration list at the workshop.
