Event description

Description

Creating a hardware startup today is easier than ever, but for most companies, scaling remains the single biggest challenge as demand for their products grows. Successfully achieving scale starts at the design phase. With careful consideration of key details like DFM (Design for Manufacture), second source supply, and intellectual property protection, you can ensure your customers will get a quality product, on time, every time without blowing out your costs.

In this workshop, you will learn about the importance of intellectual property (IP) management and protection as it relates to manufacturing. We will help you identify the main IP threats related to manufacturing, and help you overcome them with practical advice that you can put into action straight away.

The HardworX Q1 2018 workshop series is aimed at anyone interested in physical product design and manufacture, especially hardware startups, engineers, makers and those working within the manufacturing industry in roles such as purchasing, quality and supply chain. Come along for an opportunity to meet like-minded people and share experiences, expand your knowledge of best practices, and pick up practical, actionable tips to improve your hardware manufacturing.

Topics covered in this workshop series:
● Workshop #1 - “IP Protection: Differentiating and Protecting your Hardware Business”
● Workshop #2 - “Behind the scenes - Manufacturing in action” (site visit)
● Workshop #3 - “The hidden cost of quality”
