Iowa City Hospice Patient and Family Support Volunteers provide companionship and support to terminally ill patients and their loved ones. To be qualified, volunteers must undergo a 14-hour training program approved by Medicare and the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization. The training consists of group training sessions as well as assigned on-line courses that are completed individually. Volunteers must also pass background checks, provide references and complete a TB test provided by Iowa City Hospice.
The group training schedule is as follows:
Friday, January 27, 2017: 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Saturday, January 28, 2017 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
Group training sessions will be held at Mercy Medical Plaza in the McAuley Room, 504 E. Jefferson St, Iowa City, IA
This comprehensive training program will give you all the tools you need to to provide volunteer services that directly impact the lives of Iowa City Hospice patients, family members and care providers.
