Event Details

Internet-of-Things (IoT) is a network of devices connected through either wired or wireless to interact and exchange data. The purpose of communicating amongst devices is to provide consumers with smarter products and services, better customer experience, and higher competitive advantage to the business. Predictions for the number of connected devices are beyond 50 billion in 2020; a quarter of a billion vehicles are expected to be connected to the internet.

IoT in the retail environment allows customers to interact both directly and indirectly with everything in the store. This presents incredible business opportunities. Having plenty of applications, IoT helps increase customer loyalty, boost sales, offer a personalized experience, and improve inventory management.

Automotive is one of the fastest-growing markets for IoT-based solutions. By 2020, more than 250 million cars are expected to be connected and it reflects the impacts of IoT to the automotive industry. Vehicles become smartphones on wheels and IoT has proven connected cars the most promising technology. Sophisticated automotive technologies such as autonomous driving, is not only making driving smooth and safe but also revolutionize car design.

Large fleets always generate a great amount of data to be collected by IoT smart devices and be used for in-depth analytics and visualization on application dashboards. These include routes, fuel consumption, performance statistics, and traffic congestion. With the use of cloud computing, fleet operators can track vehicle positions in real-time, execute remote car diagnostics, and monitor vehicle routes and mileage.

At the end of the session, participants will walk away with an understanding of IoT-specific business model and the potential of IoT to improve business and enhance the customer experience in the retail market, automotive and fleet management market segment. Participants also will understand architectural design for each application.
