Description

Special Session on The Internet of Things for Educators and Learners - IoT-Education 2018

23 - 24 March, 2018 - Funchal, Madeira, Portugal
Within the 13th International Conference on Evaluation of Novel Approaches to Software Engineering - ENASE 2018

SCOPE

The IEEE IoT Community defines the IoT as: “… a self-configuring and adaptive system consisting of networks of sensors and smart objects whose purpose is to interconnect “all” things, including every day and industrial objects, in such a way as to make them intelligent, programmable and more capable of interacting with humans’’. According to information technology researcher Gartner, there are more than 6.4 billion devices connected to the Internet excluding tablets, cellphones and computers. That number is projected to hit 20.8 billion devices by 2020, as everything from a coffee maker to a kid toy is hooked up. The goal of this special session is to explore how IoTs can be applied in the field of education.

TOPICS OF INTEREST
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
  • Current and future trends in applying IoTs in the field of education
  • Security, privacy and trust in IoT
  • IoT system design methodologies in the field of education
  • Big data processing in IoT systems
  • Educators and learners in the loop in IoT systems
  • Standards for IoT applications
  • Architectural Frameworks, patterns for IoTs applications
  • Experiments, Assessments of applying IoTs in the field of education
  • IoTs and Online learning, m-learning, u-learning.
  • Performance evaluation of IoTs

MISSION AND MOTIVATION

The mission of ENASE (Evaluation of Novel Approaches to Software Engineering) is to be a prime international forum to discuss and publish research findings and IT industry experiences with relation to novel approaches to software engineering. The conference acknowledges evolution in systems and software thinking due to contemporary shifts of computing paradigm to e-services, cloud computing, mobile connectivity, business processes, and societal participation. By publishing the latest research on novel approaches to software engineering and by evaluating them against systems and software quality criteria, ENASE conferences advance knowledge and research in software engineering, including and emphasizing service-oriented, business-process driven, and ubiquitous mobile computing. ENASE aims at identifying most hopeful trends and proposing new directions for consideration by researchers and practitioners involved in large-scale systems and software development, integration, deployment, delivery, maintenance and evolution.
