Course Description

This course introduces students to the basic principles of programming using Swift with Apple's Xcode application. Students will learn the fundamentals of creating an iOS app from scratch. The course is geared toward students who are willing to pursue a career in the Software field. Students are recommended to purchase an Apple Developer account for the submission of the apps. Also, the students are entitled to use an Intel based Apple Macbook for the duration of the course.

A basic understanding of programming is required for the 2-week intensive programming course. If you are taking Intro to Computer Programming in Grade's 11 or 12 then, this program is the next step to help you learn how to create your own app.

Course Learning Outcomes/Competencies

Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:

  • Deploy an iOS app on the iOS Simulator

  • Design and implement UI strategies for multiple device support

  • Manage iOS provisioning profiles and Apple Developer account

  • Illustrate the iOS development process

  • Explain the advantages and disadvantages of using object oriented programming

  • Compare and contrast Swift 3 with Objective C
