Ash Furrow is an iOS Developer working at Teehan+Lax. He's a passionate developer who throws
Complete Guide. His latest book teaches beginners how to write their first iOS app – the first

What's the course like?
Our small class sizes allow the instructors to engage students with a mix of
lecture-style learning and hands-on projects in a fun and supportive
environment. Instructors can also tailor the course content to the needs of each
particular group of attendees, to ensure maximum value. We find that this
approach allows students to move at their own pace and meet their own
learning objectives, while also allowing for individual assistance when required.
What will I learn?
The iOS App Development for Beginners course will examine the following
topics, using app-building exercises to reinforce concepts taught during the
lecture portions. These topics will include:
1. Apple’s Xcode IDE, along with associated tools like the iOS Simulator and
2. The Objective-C programming language, and the frameworks comprising the
iOS Software Development Kit (SDK).
3. Building a basic application.
4. Designing and implementing the application’s user interface.
5. The different iOS navigation paradigms in iOS.
6. How to store data on the device.
7. Interacting with web services.
8. The App Store submission process.
Additional content may be introduced and customized, depending on the
instructor and the interests of the workshop attendees.
What will I need?
All attendees are required to provide their own Macintosh computer running the
latest version of OS X Mountain Lion, numerically 10.8. The latest version of
Xcode is all required, this can be downloaded for free from the App Store in OS X.
