IoPP Southeastern Chapter Presents Dr. Brad Fain




The IoPP Southeastern Chapter is thrilled to present an evening with Dr. Brad Fain, Principal Research Scientist at Georgia Tech Research Institute. Join us the evening of January 25, 2018 at The Art Institute of Atlanta as Dr. Fain discusses the GA Tech Home Lab and the work that it does to help businesses, governments, and non-profits understand packaging and product needs for aging adults or persons with physical disabilities. He has a lot of fascinating case studies, including a story about his ongoing work with hospital food packaging in Australia.

About Dr. Brad Fain

Dr. Brad Fain is a Principal Research Scientist at the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI), with over twenty three years of experience in human performance research. He is the Director of the Georgia Tech HomeLab research initiative. HomeLab consists of a network of over 600 homes in the Atlanta area representing the diversity of the state. His current research interest are in technologies to support aging in place, universal design, application of internet of things technologies to the home, and commercial product design. He currently leads human factors programs and human systems integration efforts for both military and industrial customers at GTRI. He is experienced in military and civilian system human factors analysis, anthropometric analysis, design, and human performance testing and evaluation. He previously led the technical portion of the Military Heroes voting project and served as the technical director for the Accessible Voting Technology Initiative (AVTI). He is also the director of Georgia Tech's HomeLab.

Dr. Fain established the Accessibility Evaluation Facility (AEF) at Georgia Tech and has pioneered evaluation techniques designed to measure accessibility and usability of products and services for people with disabilities. The AEF serves both industry and government customers by evaluating products to measure conformance with disability related technical guidelines. The AEF also serves as the independent test lab for the Arthritis Foundation's Ease of Use commendation program and similar programs for Arthritis Australia, Arthritis New Zealand, and the Arthritis Society of Canada.
