Description

In a movement to get the public engaged in today’s political scene, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated: Alpha Kappa Omega, Epsilon Lambda and Psi Mu Omega Chapters; the Black Student Union and the Masters of Public Administration Program of the University of Houston will hosts its Second Annual Involved Citizens of Houston Community Forum for all citizens of the City of Houston, Tuesday, September 27, 2016, from 7:00 – 8:30 PM in Agnes Arnold Hall, Auditorium 1 on the campus of the University of Houston.  Event Reception will begin at 6:30 PM.  The event is free and open to the public.  Special guests include ABC 13 Houston’s Anchor Melanie Lawson, and Houston Police Department Interim Chief Martha I. Montalvo and State Representative Senfronia Thompson.

 Topics of the discussion will include:

  • New Voting Identification
  • 2016 Voting Process
  • City Infrastructure -Flooding, Traffic and Transportation 
  • Wages - Equal Pay, Minimum Wage and Family Medical Leave
  • Police & Community Relations/Interaction
