IDEA JAM is the ONLY event where a panel of investors discuss and pitch their best ideas to a crowd of designers & hackers.
Teams of designers & hackers choose ideas and have one week to build a prototype.
The teams still own the ideas, they just get direct guidance and feedback from the investors.

Q: Is this Lean? Why do you care about investors' ideas?
A: This event is intended to be for fun and to see if anything comes out of it. The premise is that investors see a lot of ideas and already know what themes & patterns they will invest in. By giving those themes & patterns upfront we increase the odds that a good team will get funding.
Q: Is this spec work?
A: No, because the designers and hackers still own the products they produce and they are actually getting free mentorship/advice from the investors. There's no prize for this event, except for instrinsic motivation of starting a business.
Q: Why do you require a GitHub/Dribbble, or other portfolio website?
A: Because this event is a hobby project, we do not have a lot of time to go through applications. Making everyone provide a GitHub or Dribbble account is a simple way to quickly determine the right audience.
Q: Can we request investors for the next IDEA JAM?
A: Definitely! Email one of the organizers or talk to us at the event. We only ask that the investors plan to make at least 5 investments in the next 12 months.
