Event Details

Many of you have already purchased a home and maybe dutifully saving in your 401k.  Maybe you are considering purchasing investment property or vacation home?  Navigating a home purchase can have many twists and turns; buying a vacation home can be more complicated than buying a primary residence, and investment properties even more so.

How do you choose?  Residential vs Commercial?  Single-tenant vs. multi-tenant? What are the tax and financial implications?  Did your finance professor mention cap rates? How do you make it work?  Our panel of real estate professionals - including MIT Sloan alumni Taylor Yates (MBA '14); Kosta Ligris (MBA '18); and Dave Harelick (MBA '02) - will discuss the implications of going beyond single home ownership.

Please note that this discussion will largely be for individuals and families considering investing in real estate assets generally between $100,000 and $10 million in size.  We do not plan to cover topics relevant to institutional investors or ultra high net worth family offices during this panel.  Look for a future MITSBAA events related to institutional real estate investing and real estate careers.

Registration: Alumni may bring one guest for free.

We are also offering this event via a webcast. Here is the link to register.

On-Campus Free Parking: Due to the never-ending construction, Sloan's Hermann Garage is only accessable via Main Street. It is a small garage without a gate, and directly under the Sloan library. Another option is the Amherst Street/E51 lot. These parking lots are free after 5pm. The closest public parking is Kendall Center Green Garage, next to the Marriott Hotel. The entrance is 90 Broadway Street. For other suggesions, click here
