Adding REITs to your portfolio can increase returns and reduce volatility. REIT returns were about twice the S&P 500 stock index over the last 10 years. REIT returns have been higher than other major asset classes over the last 42 years. There are now hundreds of REITS and REIT mutual funds and ETFs. Two strategies for investing in REITs will be discussed.

Don Stewart received his MBA from Carnegie Mellon where his finance professor was Nobel Prize winner Merton Miller. He earned his CPA during 6 years with Price Waterhouse. After working at Continental Telephone, ITT Europe, GE and Diversified Software, Don was co-founder and CFO of two Silicon Valley startups.
