A course for beginners and more experienced artists who want to ‘free up’ their style or creative blocks.
The aim of the course is to develop your own unique painting style.
We will look at the work of other contemporary artists to put our own work into context.
The morning 10am -1pm
The Tools of the Visual Language
Experimentation and Exploration
By doing a series of warm up drawing exercises based on the primary picture elements, i.e. line, shape, space, tone, texture and colour you will learn about the visual language and deepen your inner listening and expression.
You will use your non-dominant hand in order to gain access to your innate creative side of the brain. This spontaneous way of working gives you the space to be in the moment with the curiosity of a child. Stepping into the unknown can be an uplifting and joyful activity that lends itself to freedom of expression and learning to trust your intuitive creative process. When we allow ourselves to let go of expectations we can take more creative risks becoming more confident on our own unique path.
Materials can be pencil, charcoal, rubbers, oil or soft pastel, Chinese ink
