Introduction - Week 1 of 9 - Introduction to Mindfulness Health & Wellness
Mon, April 24, 2017, 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM EDT
Week 1 starts with an overview of our 9-week program, by introducing Mindfulness Based Health and Wellness program, based upon the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, developed in the UK and Canada by Mark Williams, John Teasdale and Zindel Segal.
The 9-week mindfulness program is designed to help individuals develop in-depth personal experiences with mindfulness and help build a foundation of a sustained personal practice, one week at a time, with a view to applying the program to your own health, wellness, or to your professional work. The program focus is on working with emotional triggers and "hi-jacking", caused by stress.
The program is primarily experiential, and participants are invited to immerse themselves in the process. Adopting an attitude of curiosity to experience (like a cat at the mouse hole) each moment. To suspend judgment. It means letting go of opinions and ideas. This course is a way to help you put aside, for a while, all of the noise, distractions, people, places and things that come in the way between you and your sense of serenity and wellness.
