Event description

Description

OpenStreetMap volunteer and YouthMappers co-founder Chad Blevins will give the AU community an overview of OpenStreetMap and USAID’s YouthMappers program. YouthMappers utilizes web-based open geospatial technologies to network students at college campuses around the world and help them contribute to OpenStreetMap. YouthMappers projects are often targeted mapping projects designed to contribute to current and ongoing humanitarian disasters around the world.

Mr. Blevins will introduce event attendees to a YouthMappers mapping project and provide introductory technical instruction on OpenStreetMap mapping tools. The remainder of the event will allow attendees time to conduct hands-on mapping, putting their new technical skills to work!
