Event description

Description

Transition is a term used nationally for the process of change for young people with disabilities as they progress from childhood to adulthood.

As a parent or caregiver, you are the person to begin the planning for, thinking about and talking to your child about her or his educational, medical and social needs as they near transition age.

In this introductory session about transition-related issues, we discuss:

  • Health Insurance & Benefits
  • Legal & Financial Planning
  • Options for after High School
  • Social & Recreational Supports

This session is recommended for parents/caregivers of children age 13 and up, however, if parents of younger children would like to explore these issues, you are welcome to join us.

Please make alternative childcare arrangements -- some topics discussed might be sensitive for older children
