Event description

Description

Internal Family Systems is an evidence-based therapy and an emerging model of psychotherapy that seeks to understand and incorporate the different complex and multi-faceted personality parts into therapeutic work.

This 8 hour training is led by Derek Scott, IFS therapist, and instructor from Ontario, Canada.

Through a variety of teaching methods participants will develop an understanding of the theoretical underpinnings of the model and what differentiates it from other models. Participants will develop further understanding of the challenge of the multiplicity paradigm, the personality as system, the specific roles parts play as well as how healing occurs within the Internal Family System model including the Role of Self, and facilitating the Self-to-part connection.

The day will start with a psychodramatic illustration of the model followed by a didactic presentation with lots of time for Q&A. After this participants will be invited into an experiential exercise to identify some of their own parts. The afternoon will consist of a teaching video and live demonstration with a volunteer. We will wrap up the day with the opportunity for further questions to be answered and to discuss next steps.

This course offers 7 CEU credits for LMSWs, LMFTs, and LMHCs.
