Event description

Description

An Introduction to the Hummingbird Robotics Kit

Design, build and program your own robot using the Hummingbird Robotics Kit and everyday art supplies. This 3 hour introductory workshop is designed for teachers interested in introducing robotics, programming and design into their classrooms. We will provide helpful tips on how you can introduce robotics into any subject area as you design and build your own working robot!

Is this workshop good for beginners?

Yes! No robotics or programming experience is required.

What do I need to bring?

We'll provide the tools, kits and construction material. You'll need to bring a laptop and a small box (about the sixe of a shoebox). We will have Hummingbird Kits available for use during the workshop. You can also purchase a kit with the discount offered for this workshop only and save $100!

If you bring a colleague from your district, you'll receive an extra discount on a small Hummingbird Duo Classroom Kit and save $250!

Discount prices on Hummingbird Kits are offered for this workshop only. See details at check out.

Instructor Bio:

Working with organizations like the Jim Henson Company, The Lawrence Hall of Science and Sesame Workshop, Matt has found his niche directly between the worlds of entertainment and education. A craftsman, a filmmaker and a teacher, Matt has spent the last 20 years looking for new ways to engage young minds through storytelling and technology.

Prior to joining the Birdbrain team, Matt led the TechHive Makerspace at the University of California, Berkeley. There, he worked extensively with the Hummingbird Robotics Kit to develop the first Hummingbird-based Robot Petting Zoo.
