The Intro to the ECERS-R Training is a day-long information session, providing an overview of the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale--Revised (ECERS-R) assessment tool. Participants will gain an understanding of the 6 subscales and some instructional and environmental practices to look out for across the Pre-K day. The training session will focus on how to use a DECE-created “ECERS-R Item Guide” to improve learning spaces and instructional practices. It is intended to give an introduction to many (though not all) elements of the ECERS tool that most frequently impact program scores, with particular focus on those items that staff can most easily address within their classroom. Participants will NOT become reliable nor learn how to score specific items, but will gather a better sense on how to improve their Pre-K program.
