About this Event

We are starting a new community on Slack. If you don’t know what Slack is, have never used it, or want to know more, join us on Tuesday, September 17th from 10-11:30 am to learn more, see our vision, and participate in our new, online community.

Slack is a cloud-based collaboration tool used throughout many high-tech companies to facilitate communication among teams, business units, projects, and more. In this training, we’ll talk about the best way for you to use it as a community builder as well as showing you the best ways to use the tool to get the most out of it.

And, we’ve prepared a great training document that you’ll be able to download and use after the training to do more on your own. (Thank you, Jess Morgan!)

We want to include local recruiters in this session to encourage them to enter their own technical writer and editor roles in our Job channel.

Connecting Online:Log in early and download Zoom if it is your first time, and then test the audio and speaker options before you join the meeting. If you do so, you should not have any audio problems. If you do have audio issues, then use the telephone number to connect for the audio component.

For recruiters, when you add job events, you will need to link the job details to a web page or other online material containing the majority of the job description. In Slack, you'll only be able to post a small number of details about the role and then if people are interested, then can click on the supplied link to learn more.

Add the zoom information to your calendar and show up on time for the training.
