Asylum Aid is offering free training on statelessness on Monday, 5 December – 10.00-11.30am in Manchester.
This is an introductory session for anyone interested in statelessness, particularly those who may encounter stateless persons through their work with NGOs, such as: social workers, support workers, intake staff, staff and volunteers who are not legally qualified who work in the immigration/asylum sector or at homeless shelters, immigration detainee visitors, etc.
This session will cover: introduction to statelessness generally; basic introduction to the UK’s Immigration Rules relating to statelessness; some key issues relating to detention of stateless persons; and referral of stateless persons for legal advice and other assistance.
Places are free, but space is limited.
For legal advisers, there will be a separate statelessness legal training on the same day, 5 December, from 12.45pm-5pm (at another location in Manchester), run by Asylum Aid, Liverpool Law Clinic, and the Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association. Please book for the legal training at: http://www.ilpa.org.uk/events.php?date=2016-12.
