Event description

Description

Are you a UVic student or Staff member and want to learn more about how doodling or Sketchnoting can help you get better grades? If so, then this hands-on workshop will give you an introduction to Sketchnoting. Once you’ve completed this session you’ll be able to:

  • Be able to discuss the research behind sketchnoting vs laptop notes in memory recall
  • Know that Sketchnoting does not equal Artwork
  • Understand the basic design principles of layout
  • Understand the basic design principles of typography
  • Use basic shapes to create a visual vocabulary for common objects, concepts, and themes
  • Draw simple figures in a variety of poses
  • Be able to listen, process and sketch at the same time
  • Be aware of best practices for preparing to Sketchnote a class and/or meeting

Before attending the orientation, please watch the short instructional videos, and take the pre-workshop quiz, so that you can be prepared for the hands-on exercises during the orientation (this will take less than 15 minutes, or somewhat more if you view the optional materials):
