Event description
This workshop will help you understand what shamanism is, create a sacred community circle, and experience shamanic techniques.

About this Event

“Honoring the world of form and spirit, surrendering to endless death and rebirth, this is the source of all healing- the shaman’s power.” Theodore Tsaousidis

Shamanism is not a religion. It is not Native American spirituality. It is a timeless and universal archetype of the specific role of the Wounded Healer in a culture. It has many unique cultural expressions, but it is a human impulse. This workshop will help you understand more clearly what shamanism is, how someone becomes a shaman, how that role expresses in contemporary Western cultures, and how shamans work to bring healing to individuals, the community, and the planet.

We will spend our time creating a sacred community circle, teaching and learning, being present to witness and honor one another, and will have the opportunity to experience some shamanic technique, and perhaps some mystery too.

Aimee Shaw, M.A. is a practicing shaman, a certified Master Life Coach, a certified hypnotherapist, and a SoulCollage® facilitator. She is a 14 year cancer survivor, and has been living 12 years in treatment for metastatic disease. She has had no evidence of disease since 2007. Prior to her metastatic recurrence Aimee had a career in social work, and has worked with domestic violence victims and perpetrators, juvenile probationers, foster care youth and families, and developmentally challenged individuals and their families. She is the founding editor of The Urban Shaman®, an online community that focuses on contemporary shamanism.
