Event description

Description

In these classes participants will learn our theory about the nature of human beings: our inherent intelligence, goodness, cooperative, caring and zestful nature; the negative feelings and rigid behaviors we develop as a result of early hurts and exposure to societal oppressions; and our natural ability to heal from these distresses, through the process of emotional release.

Participants will also be paired together to listen to each other in equal turns. One person listens with respectful, non-judgmental attention while the other person talks about the topic of his or her choice. Then they switch roles. In the safety and confidentiality of these short ‘sessions’ people can access past feelings of distress as well as current upsets. This might include their experiences of oppression and environmental injustice, feelings of burnout, discouragement, or stresses brought up at COP23.

Participants will be encouraged to appreciate themselves, take pride in their accomplishments, and set goals for themselves and for the ‘big picture.’ Classes will be taught by an experienced international Re-evaluation Counseling leader.

Participants who gain mastery of these tools can apply them in their daily lives as well as in their activist work. The overall goal of Re-evaluation Counseling is to fully recover our thinking in order to act more intelligently about the challenges that face us.
