Event description

Description

Psychosynthesis is a transpersonal psychology first formulated by the Italian psychiatrist Roberto Assagioli in 1910. It is an approach that seeks to understand both the psychological and spiritual dimensions of the human being. Among the areas that will be presented and experientially explored in this introductory workshop are: the recognition and harmonization of parts within the personality; disidentification (the experience of personal selfhood as distinct from the personality); wounding and healing; the quest for purpose and meaning in life; and, the relevance of spiritual empathy in the practice of psychotherapy as well as in all relationships.

Ann Gila (MFT 8801) has taught psychosynthesis for over forty years, both in the United States and in Europe. Since 1989, she has been a faculty member at Sofia University (formerly the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology) and for several years was a clinical supervisor in their counseling center. She is the co-author with her late husband, John Firman, of three books: The Primal Wound; Psychosynthesis: A Psychology of the Spirit; and, A Psychotherapy of Love: Psychosynthesis in Practice.

From 5-6pm, you are welcome to join an information session to learn about the Board Certified Coaching Program in Psychosynthesis being offered by Synthesis San Francisco, beginning in April 2017. You can learn more about this program at: SynthesisCenterSF.com This information session is optional and not part of the one day workshop.
