Event description

Description

Have you ever been amazed by what TV and Film makeup departments can do? How do they make injuries look so unbelievably real? If you’re not the type to feel queasy at the sight of a little blood or even a gory gash then you’ll want to join our Introduction to Professional Prosthetics Skills workshop.

The workshop will be led by the renowned FX specialist Jennifer Glynn who will be teaching the basics of high quality prosthetics work. This course is designed as a fun introduction to prosthetics makeup, while laying the groundwork for attendees to take more advanced courses with a view to work in the field. If your interest is purely fascination and an opportunity to try out some of the basics then this introduction class is perfect for both.

During this course we will be covering-

• The role of an FX Makeup Artist

• Cuts/ Bruises/ Scratches/ Scars/Bloods

• Working with small FX gelatine moulds

• Application of pre made Pro Bondo pieces and painting up techniques

• Creation of a final look

Over the course of the workshop you will watch a demonstration of a Gelatine mold creation and application to a model which you will then have the opportunity to try out yourself. Jenny will explain the technique of how to fill silicone molds to create a prosthetic piece such as a cut, scar or even a zombie bite! Releasing the mold and applying it into one of your classmates is where the fun really begins so maybe bring a friend. Don’t worry about coming on your own, there will be plenty of like minded people at the class who enjoy a good zombie bite.

There will be an opportunity to also work with some premade pro-bondo molds which are a more long lasting material. To finish off these gruesome looks, Jenny will walk you through the makeup elements of colouring the mold. This is the final stage and you can even leave looking like you have survived a post-apocalyptic zombie attack, or not, it’s up to you.

This course is designed to introduce people to a high level of makeup special effects in a relaxed friendly atmosphere. There will be more advanced courses available to join if you attend this workshop and want to progress to more advanced skills.
