Introduction to Power Quality Seminar (PQ-101)
Course Outline – 4 hour seminar WI DSPS # 18431 4 Credit Hours

This introductory couse covers various power quality topics, causes and best practices for addressing issues. Topics include power factor, harmonics, sags, swells, EMI, PWM voltage and more.

Brief Outline:
I. Explanation of power quality [30 minutes]

II. Power Frequency Disturbances [60 minutes]

III. High Frequency Disturbances [120 minutes]

IV. Power Quality Measurements [30 minutes]

Upon completion of this course, students should have a meaningful understanding of the various types of power quality disturbances and harmonic distortion. They should understand the causes of these problems as well as typical means of solving or preventing these problems.
