Midlands Mediation Center’s Introduction to Mediation Training emphasizes skills necessary for anyone who wants to empower and transform by understanding and resolving conflicts, improving relationships and strengthening families, communities, organizations and workplaces.
Topics covered during 20 hours of classroom instruction and role plays include Dynamics of Conflict, Dispute Resolution Styles, Active Listening Skills and the Mediation Process.
This four-session series is open to 10-20 individuals and is well-suited for business, non-profit, human resources, and law enforcement professionals. This program has been pre-approved for 17.5 hours of recertification credit through the Human Resources Certification Institute.

Cost? $250 for 20 hours of instruction, materials and role plays; current Columbia SHRM members receive a $50 discount.

A minimum of 6 participants is required. Confirmation of training will be sent via email by Friday, July 8.

Successful completion of this course and an additional 20 hours of “lab” observation and co-mediation in semi-monthly small claims magistrate court qualifies participants to serve as volunteer mediators for the Midlands Mediation Center (MMC). If choosing the 40-hour option, you will need to complete a MMC volunteer mediator application after the classroom portion.

What is the refund policy?
In the event of cancellation of registration prior to July 8, a partial refund (less $25) will be available. After July 8, no refund is offered. However, a paid registration may be applied to a future training series. You must attend all session to receive a certificate of attendance, and no refund will be made for missed sessions.
Saturday lunches will be provided. Light snacks and water will be available.
