Workshop Summary:
Introduction to Infrared Photography at Writing on Stone Provincial Park, Alberta
Come and join me for a hands-on Infrared capture and post process workshop. You will each use a Canon EOSR fully modified camera. Experience infrared photography at 720 nanometer (standard B&W) and 665 nanometer (enhanced colour). Class size limited to 3 participants.
We will spend an afternoon shooting infrared images from various locations in and around Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park, Alberta. This will be followed by a 2 hour walk through of post processing techniques using Light Room Classic. (in person at Seven Persons Classroom or online via Teams)
During our day of shooting, we will discuss:
• What is Infrared Light?
• How is it different from Visible Light?
• How to visualize your image for Infrared
• What elements should be incorporated in an Infrared image
• The importance of in Camera White Balance
• How to set a Custom White Balance
• Using manual setting for exposure and aperture
• Working with challenging lighting scenarios
• Making the most of natural light
During our 1 hour of Post Processing, we will discuss: (via Teams or Zoom)
• How to best convert your RAW files
• Jpeg or Tiff. . . 8 bit, 16 bit? Which is better?
• Workflow for Light Room Classic
• Colour Swapping techniques
• The little tricks to make your images pop

• Experienced instruction
• Introduction to recommended equipment and gear
• One day use of a fully modified Canon EOSR camera
• One day use of both 720nm and 665nm filters
• One day use of Irix 15mm wide angle prime lens
• One day use of a tripod and ball head
