Course Description

Come and learn cybersecurity from the pros. This class will be taught by the CISO (Chief Information Security Officer) of a large bank and two other seasoned cybersecurity professionals. You don't want to miss it.

In the 1980’s, Cliff Stoll discovered a $0.75 accounting error on the computer systems he managed at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory. This small discovery would eventually lead him on the year-long pursuit of a group of five KGB sponsored hackers who managed to access numerous US government and military networks. His story has inspired countless people to pursue the profession of information security.

Introduction to Information Security is based on an online course, the Cuckoo’s Egg Decompiled, developed by Chris Sanders and designed to provide an introduction to information security, as told through the lens of Cliff Stoll’s “The Cuckoo’s Egg” book.

This is an entry-level course for those who are newly exploring information security, individuals who want exposure to a wide array of security concepts, or high school and college students. There are no specific prerequisites.

This is a non-credit course, open to all.

Date: Fall 2018, from August 29th to Nov. 14.
Time: Wednesdays 6 pm to 8 pm
Location: Tech Incubator at Queens College
