What is Green Laning?

Accepted Answer

Green Laning is driving unsurfaced rights of way which have vehicular rights. These range from easy gravel tracks to more technical routes, and offer a great way to explore the countryside.

Question 2

Does my vehicle need Tax, MOT, & Insurance?

Accepted Answer

Yes — ‘Green Lanes’ (Byways & UCR’s) have the same rights as a tarmac road, and therefore your vehicle must meet the same standards as if it was a ‘normal’ road.

Is my vehicle suitable?

Accepted Answer

You don’t need a modified 4x4 to enjoy Green Laning — some in Norfolk can even be driven in a normal car. These lanes should be suitable for ‘soft roaders’ such as Freelanders and Dacia Dusters. If you have any questions, please email Norfolk.Rep@GLASS-UK.org

Will I damage my vehicle?

Accepted Answer

We intend that the routes we will drive during this event will be non-scratchy and suitable for all. That said, the organisers accept no liability and all participants are responsible for their own safety and vehicle.

Question 5

What should I bring?

Accepted Answer

Please wear suitable clothing and footwear. We would also suggest that you bring a spare tyre and the equipment to change it, as breakdown operators do not normally assist on green lanes.

Question 6

How do I get to the starting point?

Accepted Answer

Please arrive from the A148 (main road immediately north of the pub). Please note that the approach from the South is not suitable for most vehicles.
