Event description

Description

FIRST LEGO League (FLL) is an annual challenge event for school students aged 9 to 16 from around the world, with a mission to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders. Its popularity has been growing exponentially and in 2017 Queensland alone will host 5 tournaments between November 11th and 18th (Caboolture, Garden’s Point, Rothwell, Noosaville and Townsville).

Robotics@QUT is running a teacher professional development workshop to help teachers build student teams. This workshop will examine the three parts of the FLL challenge (Project, Robot Design, and Core Values), discuss the role of the coach and where to find support, and identify the key learning links to the Australian Curriculum and how FLL can be incorporated into the classroom program. Significant time will also be allocated to allow participants hands-on time with the EV3 robots and iPads to attempt to solve a range of missions from previous seasons while networking with other coaches.
