What all inventors, entrepreneurs, small businesses, and start-ups should know about design patents. Given the recent increase of litigation between companies over design patents, there is far more interest but little knowledge behind design patents. While many individuals and organizations seek protection for their ideas with utility patents, protection of industrial designs is becoming necessary. Come join us to learn more.
The evening will be a panel presentation comprising of Mindy Bickel (USPTO), Peter Thurlow (Jones Day) and Linda Shudy (Kenyon & Kenyon). Mindy Bickel represents the US Department of Commerce and the US Patent and Trademark Office in a first of its kind partnership with Cornell Tech. In this capacity, she works closely with Cornell University as they endeavor to build Cornell NYC Tech, a graduate level campus which will be located on Roosevelt Island in New York City. In addition to working with Cornell, Ms. Bickel works with other local educators in the New York City metropolitan region. She also works with innovators and entrepreneurs in the City of New York, providing them with appropriate information and resources offered by the Department of Commerce.
