Introduction to Darkroom

WonderRoot's Introduction to Darkroom is a 7-week workshop taught by Haylee Anne, a graduate of Montclair State University with a BFA in Photography. Haylee Anne specializes in special processes; her work has been displayed in various galleries. This Introduction to Darkroom class series focuses on growing a working knowledge of shooting, developing, and printing black and white 35mm film. The class series will begin on February 13th, continuing every Monday for 7 weeks.
*Note: This class is a series, and attendance is expected at each session upon registering. Registration is not available for separate dates/classes. Registration is now full.
**Donations are not ticket purchases. Instead, they are available for those who wish to pay more for the class as a voluntary, donated fee.
Dates include: February 13, 22, 27, and March 6, 13, 20, 27. The class outlines are as follows:
>> Session 1 (Feb 13th): Intro to Camera Function and Film, 7PM to 10PM
>> Session 2 (Feb 22nd): Basics of developing film, subject ideas, test 1, 7PM to 10PM
>> Session 3 (Feb 27th): (This class will start a little late)Film developing test 2, 8PM to 10PM*
>> Session 4 (March 6th): Open studio with substitute, more film processing (I will be out of the country), 7PM to 10PM
>> Session 5 (March 13th): Darkroom basics, contact sheet test, 7PM to 10PM
>> Session 6 (March 20th): Darkroom basics 2, test strips and prints 7PM to 10PM
>> Session 7 (March 27th): final class, using filters for darkroom prints, 7PM to 9PM
Participants must bring their own manual camera, purchase their own film, and a film page for the workshop. WonderRoot provides the printing paper and any other necessary materials. This workshop is intended for those who do not have prior knowledge and are new to film photography; however, experience with a DSLR is a plus.

Together, all seven classes cost $35. There are 8 spots available. Due to this limited space, furthur donations are encouraged. The smaller class size allows for direct and engaged instruction and space in the darkroom.
