Why we love mending:
It’s cost-effective.At The Fabric Folk, we believe what was worth buying is worth repairing. Regular mending can help you save up to £200 a year by extending the life of your clothes and avoiding replacement costs.
It’s an act of self-care.Show some gratitude to your winter knitwear before packing it away for summer. It’s a moment of slow, mindful making.
It’s creative.
Creative darning allows you to experiment with colours, designs and make the item uniquely yours. This event is perfect for anyone interested in sustainbale fashion and DIY projects.
It's therapeutic.Darning is a calming, creative process — a soothing way to unwind while building a useful skill.
It’s sustainable.Repairing just one wool jumper instead of replacing it can save over 50,000 litres of water—the amount typically used to produce a new one.
What to expect:
In this workshop, Marina from @the.fabric.folk will guide you through visible darning techniques, show inspiring samples, and help you explore the tools, materials, and colours to get started.
What to bring:
Please bring 1-2 woollen knitted items from home to mend — a jumper, cardigan, scarf or pair of socks with holes, stains, or thinning areas. All mending materials provided.
