Event description

Description

This workshop will cover a process known as Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM), in which we take a 3D model and sequence a series of toolpaths to manufacture the object using either a CNC router or mill. For this introduction we will using the CAM package included in Fusion360 to demonstrate the workflow. Covered in the workshop will be basic 2D and 3D tool paths used in routing/milling, how to create toolpaths, setting up tools and post-processing for specific machines.

There are no prerequisites for this class, but it is highly recommended to take or plan to take a CNC Routing or Milling workshop. Experience in Autodesk's Fusion 360 software is suggested, but not mandatory.

If it is your first time at Inworks please arrive 15 minutes early to go over basic lab practices and sign our Terms of Use.

Access to Inworks Prototyping Lab
We provide the facilities to turn good ideas into great realities. Whether you are a student, researcher, or someone looking to learn new skills, we welcome you to join us. Participants in our workshops gain access to Inworks for the duration of the workshop.

Currently our lab and prototyping equipment are free to access and open to the Denver community in compliance with our Inworks Terms of Use and posted safety rules. Lab staff must certify your competency on specific machines before you may use them. Our workshops are designed to teach you these skills quickly.

If you’d like to work in our space regularly, please stop by during a Basic Safety and Badging session. You do not need a badge to take workshops, but it is required to drop into the space and work during our open lab hours.

You can learn more about us at inworks.ucdenver.edu, and we’d be happy to answer any questions you have after your workshop.

Remember, all participants are required to read, sign, and adhere to the Inworks Terms of Use and all posted safety rules.
