About this event
This is an introductory class geared toward people who are interested in beginning to learn about the art of blacksmithing. Participants will learn how to build and maintain a fire in the forge, heat metal, and practice hammer control while using the traditional tools and methods of a blacksmith. Each participant will build and take home their choice of a uniquely hand-crafted item. This class is for participants 14 and older.
Location: Field Blacksmith Shop
Class Fee: Members, $110 including lunch and all materials. Non-members, $120 including lunch and all materials.
Please wear natural-fiber only clothes that you don't mind getting dirty (wool, cotton, leather, but NO SYNTHETICS) with full-length sleeves and legs. No open-toed shoes.
Lunch will be provided.
Currently, the museum requires proof of vaccination and masking to attend this program. However, due to the ever-evolving nature of the COVID-19 situation, protocol may be changed in the future. Please come prepared with proof of vaccination and a mask in the event that they are required. We thank you for understanding and helping us keep our visitors and staff safe.
