Event description

Description

Do you want to learn how to shoot with a bow and arrow? This is the class for you! This class gives an overview of archery, and introduces participants to proper form for shooting, information about archery equipment, different types of archery, and proper safety considerations when shooting.

This introductory course is for all archers who wish to participate in any of the other WMAC archery programs, including the Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) or other archery programs, or those who just wish to learn more about archery and begin practicing shooting with a bow. Archers shoot under the guidance of multiple instructors at the WMAC Facility Indoor Shooting Range over a six-week period. This course offers participants a chance to learn about archery, archery equipment, and the various types of archery shooting. Use of WMAC bows, arrows, and safety equipment, and a completion medal are included in course fees.

This course is offered to archers 8 years old or older (adults welcome, and often recommended for parents). Participants may take this class multiple times to reinforce skills if needed/desired. This is NOT a drop-off class – parents of youth archers need to be on-site during the course instruction.

Two class times are offered for this summer class. The early class is Tuesday nights from 6:00 - 7:00pm, and the late class is from 7:30pm to 8:30pm. Classes start August 8 and continue on Tuesday evenings for six weeks. Participants cannot switch between class times during the six week period, as class size is limited for each group, and equipment is reserved for each archer.
