Event Details

This workshop is designed for users that have solid computer skills, has used ArcGIS Desktop and can create MXD files.  This advanced workshop will assume skills beyond an introductory level.  The users will explore both theory and hands on applications of ArcGIS Server 10.1.  In this workshop the participants will each work on a server, the server will have a basic configuration and installation of software.  Each participants will learn how to modify settings on the server.  The participants will create map services from shapefile data and publish that data.  The participants will learn how to use ArcGIS Online tools as well as Flexviewer and Silverlight Viewer (no programming knowledge is required for this workshop).  In addition the participants will explore how to bring in tools from online libraries.

The GeoTech Center hopes to increase the number, diversity, and quality of geospatial professionals through geospatial technology education at the community and technical college level.  Transforming the preparation and continuing education of geospatial technicians to meet the national workforce demand will be done by:  

 

  • Creating a national clearinghouse of exemplary geospatial curriculum materials and database Web services; 
  • Increasing the quantity, quality and diversity of geospatial technicians to meet U.S. workforce needs;
  • Increasing the number of educators participating in geospatial professional development;
  • Sustaining the Center long-term by seeking collaborations and sources of funding to maintain and improve services and products.
