Event description

Description

This Workshop is Proudly Hosted by BayGeo and the University of San Francisco's Geospatial Analysis Lab

Learning Objectives

ArcGIS Pro is the future of ArcGIS software and will replace ArcGIS 10.x Desktop within the next few years. Pro is "the premier professional desktop GIS application from Esri. With ArcGIS Pro, you can visualize, edit, and analyze your geographic data in both 2D and 3D. After you create projects, maps, layers, tools, and more, ArcGIS Pro has several options for sharing your work with others." (Esri)

This workshop is designed for new GIS users as well as those who are familiar with ArcMap or QGIS. We will become familiar with core GIS functionality in Pro and explore the ease with which Pro accomplishes advanced geoprocessing functions and its efficient data management tools. By the end of this workshop you will be able to tell a story and solve a problem with a map.

Your Instructor

Andrew Middleton is a GIS Analyst at Northgate Environmental Management. He says "Like many in the geospatial field, I started by majoring in Environmental Science and then getting distracted by the incredible power of GIS. After college I spent six years in industry using GIS and CAD to draft utility infrastructure, work with large data sets, manage projects and navigate complex bureaucracy. Today I get to use my science background, field experience and my passion for natural resources management in concert with the skills I've learned in industry to work in the consulting world where customers demand maps that are functional AND pretty. I finished a General Assembly Data Science course where I learned Python, Pandas, and machine learning which have become valuable data processing and analysis skills."
