Description

Want to make an action film or learn how to shoot an action scene?

In this introductory workshop for filmmakers identifying as female you will:

  • Feel confident and comfortable in finding, choosing, and knowing how to have a conversation with the right Stunt Coordinator for your project.

  • Learn how to avoid common pitfalls that newbies to action filmmaking usually make.

  • Discover how to "speak action" with a Stunt Coordinator and how to identify the one that will best serve your project.

  • Hear pro tips and advice directly from a panel of working Stunt Coordinators.

  • Witness firsthand how to film an action scene with a veteran action Director and Stunt Performers.

  • Walk away with a list of pro contacts in the stunt community that will support you in creating your action film.

This workshop, moderated by The Chimaera Project's founding member America Young, is focused on helping to bring more women to a genre that's dominated by men, action! We'll start with a panel of pro Stunt Coordinators, offering their invaluable insight and experience, and answering your questions to empower you to create action. In the second half of the workshop, take part in an educational demo with pro Stunt Performers as you learn how to shoot a simple fight scene. A select few attendees will have the opportunity to have hands-on experience filming the action with our pro guests!

~ Attending this intro workshop qualifies you for an advanced action filmmaking workshop! ~

ABOUT AMERICA YOUNG

America Young is an award-winning Director and Stunt Coordinator currently working in Film, TV and Video Games. She is one of the few female stunt coordinators in the industry, with over 30 coordinator credits on her resume. America uses her love and extensive knowledge of action, genre and comedy to tell important stories hidden under the guise of entertainment. Her first feature film, Executive Produced by Stan Lee, premiered to sold out crowds at the Palm Springs Film Festival and received distribution. America directed a season of the animated Barbie series for Mattel that was featured on VICE, lauded for being "woke" and a refreshing, inspiring new take on the classic character. With a magical surrealistic feature in post, a series in development, and attached to direct three features, America's passion for storytelling keeps her constantly creating. After being selected for and completing the 2019 Warner Bros. Directors’ Workshop, she moved directly into helming an episode of Blindspot and is slated to direct an episode of Legacies (CW).
