Introduction to Accent Modification
Thu, March 23, 2017, 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM EDT
This two-hour workshop is an introduction to the basics of how to improve spoken English communication skills. If you speak English with the influence of a foreign accent, this is the best way to find out if speech coaching is for you. The workshop features information and practice, focusing on:
Understanding features of American English that have the most influence on being understood clearly
How to identify your own differences and make effective changes
Strategies and resources for continued learning and practice
This is open to native speakers of all languages and is not focused on one accent in particular. The goal is to improve your spoken English so you are easily understood and have strategies to make corrections if you need to.
The workshop is not a class in how to speak English as a Second Language. It is not for beginner learners. It is for people who use English successfully in their professional lives but know they have room for improvement.
If you've ever wondered if you could benefit from speech coaching that specializes in foreign accented English, this is a perfect way to learn the basics, meet your potential coach, and decide if you would like to pursue it further. Or, this workshop may answer the questions you have and this is all you need to motivate you to get back to practicing on your own. Either way, you'll learn something and meet nice people who share the same goal.
