Event description

Description

Many people think of Pasadena as a suburb. A sleepy bedroom community with one main claim to fame - New Year’s Day, which brings the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl game. However, this tour will prove that Pasadena is SO much more than that! Pasadena grew up as its own city separate from Los Angeles, with its own personality, goals, and priorities. There are almost too many claims to fame to count, but a couple include being the endpoint of the first transcontinental flight in 1911, and the creation of the first cheeseburger in 1926.

On this tour, we'll stroll the streets and learn about the founding and growth of the city in the late 1800s, and how it evolved into the city you see today. Highlights include the location of Michael Jackson's first moonwalk, the back alleys of Old Pasadena, "Millionaires' Row" on Orange Grove, and a theater which once saw the likes of Guns n' Roses and Bruce Springsteen!

We'll meet on the front steps of the Pasadena Central Library, at 285 East Walnut Street, 91101

Hope to see you there!
